Pro-Morales supporters have protested after Bolivía's head of Senate Jeanine Anez declared herself as interim president after former President Evo Morales sought asylum in Mexico.
But Morales' Movement Towards Socialism party called it a coup and said her appointment was made despite the lack of a quorum.
The former president's mostly indigenous supporters said they fear a return of the racism they had experienced.
